Therapy Personalised to You
Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and finding someone you feel comfortable with is just as important as their qualifications or approach.
I'm Pete Tobias, a BACP Accredited counsellor and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner specialising in online EMDR therapy and counselling for adults across the UK and internationally. I have a particular interest in working with trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, neurodivergence, anxiety and emotional overwhelm. I also work with directors, founders, CEOs and other senior professionals, helping them overcome the emotional barriers that can affect confidence, resilience, relationships, decision-making and performance under pressure.
Alongside my professional training and clinical experience, I am also neurodivergent. This shapes the way I work, helping me create a therapeutic space that is collaborative, flexible and adapted to the individual, rather than expecting clients to fit a particular therapeutic model.
I believe therapy should feel safe, respectful and free from judgement. Whether you're looking to process traumatic experiences through EMDR, better understand longstanding emotional patterns, navigate life's current challenges, or overcome emotional obstacles that are impacting your professional life, I aim to provide a space where you can work at a pace that feels right for you.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is witnessing the resilience people discover within themselves. Meaningful change rarely happens overnight, but with the right therapeutic relationship it is possible to process difficult experiences, develop new perspectives and move towards a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Like many people, my life has included its own challenges, losses and periods of personal growth. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation of how difficult life can sometimes become, and they continue to shape the empathy, compassion and authenticity I bring to my work as a therapist.
My journey into counselling began with training in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2007. In 2014, I undertook counselling-specific training, eventually qualifying with a Professional Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Since then, I have worked in both private practice and a range of organisations, including Anxiety UK and hospice services, supporting adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief and other emotional difficulties.
As my clinical practice developed, I became increasingly drawn to working with trauma. This led me to undertake advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), becoming an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. I have also completed training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other trauma-informed approaches, enabling me to tailor therapy to each person's individual needs rather than relying on a single therapeutic model.
Alongside my professional training and clinical experience, I am also neurodivergent. This informs the way I work, helping me create a therapeutic space that is collaborative, flexible and adapted to the individual, while remaining grounded in evidence-based practice.
I remain committed to ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision and my own personal growth. I believe that therapy works best within a safe, trusting and authentic therapeutic relationship, where people feel genuinely understood, accepted and supported as they work towards meaningful and lasting change.
Choosing a therapist is an important decision. A free 15-minute consultation gives us the opportunity to discuss what's bringing you to therapy, whether EMDR or counselling feels appropriate, and whether we're the right fit to work together.
